Hi Tangueros and Tangueras,
I will be exhibiting my Tango Art in Binghamton in the first part of July. My exhibition will be at Atomic Tom's Gallery, 196 State St., Binghamton. (~ on Artists Row ~). This is an opportunity to promote Tango in the area! You are welcome to get together a performance group if you'd like and we can promote the whole event for better attraction.
There is a huge "July Fest" the second weekend of the exhibition: July 11 & 12 (Sat./Sun.), and I'm planning on being at the gallery from 2-5pm on those days. George McGee and I might perform on Sunday, July 12. You are welcome to perform in the gallery space itself on any of the days during the exhibit, except for the day of the opening reception (Friday, July 4th, which is the "First Friday" Art Walk, 5 to 9pm) or Tues/Thurs during the week. (I am scheduling classes then and those days will be hectic as is.)
My Tango Art exhibition will run from Fri, July 4th, to Sunday, July 12th (2-5pm on weekends and by appt during the week) I will open the gallery for any time you want to perform. We can advertise the performances during the reception on Friday June 4th, which might get as many as 1000 people!
The July Fest takes place 3 blocks away on Court St. and if you'd want to perform there or on the street outside the gallery, you'd have to get a permit and talk with the festival organizers. If so, let me know and I can get you a contact name or you can call the mayor's office.
You are welcome to look online at my website for more information and see some art: www.TangoMyHeart.com. (Art Exhibitions)
I will begin sending PR out around June 8th. Please let me know if anyone is interested.
There is also a new restaurant in Binghamton whose owners are interested in hosting Tango events. It is a French restaurant called, Kilmer Brasserie and Steakhouse. We may be able to arrange for something there as well if people are interested.
Best regards,
Karen Kucharski
